The Last Time . . .

CAREYCORN1

I’m done.  I had my final treatment of radiation last week.  I rang the bell for the last time.  My husband was the only one with me.  All my family was out of town, Riley was still in school, and the boys were working.  I originally thought I wanted cast of thousands with me to celebrate ringing the bell. But in the end it was just the two of us ringing that bell and it was just perfect.  We were navigating this journey together.  We were together when I got the call that I had breast cancer for the second time.  We held each other and cried.  Sad, sad tears.  Both knowing that this time around the journey would test us to our limits.  We held each other up, laughed at the absurdities, cried at the frustrations, and at the end of each day, we were thankful for that day.  Today when I rang the bell, I did so with my biggest supporter, my best friend, my husband.  We hugged and cried but this time it was happy tears.  We were done!  No more treatments!  Let the healing begin!  It was a great great day!  WHOOP WHOOP!!!
